By accessing or using PDFMagic ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. Additional terms may apply to specific features and will be presented when applicable.

2. The Service

PDFMagic provides free, browser-based PDF tools including but not limited to: merging, splitting, compressing, converting, editing, signing, and AI-powered analysis of PDF documents.

Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice, though we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance warning for major changes.

Free Access

All tools are provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce premium features in the future, though currently available free tools will remain free.

3. Acceptable Use

You may use PDFMagic for lawful personal and commercial purposes. You agree to:

  • Use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of others
  • Only upload documents you have the right to process
  • Use the Service in a manner that doesn't interfere with other users' experience
  • Not attempt to overload or stress-test our systems without permission

4. Prohibited Use

⚠️ Violations of this section may result in immediate suspension and may be reported to law enforcement.

You may NOT use PDFMagic to:

  • Upload, process, or distribute illegal, obscene, or harmful content
  • Process documents containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this will be reported to authorities
  • Infringe on copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or other malicious code via documents
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service at scale without written permission
  • Impersonate any person, company, or entity
  • Circumvent any security or rate-limiting features
  • Use the Service for any illegal or fraudulent purpose

5. Intellectual Property

PDFMagic and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by PDFMagic and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service or software without written permission. Unauthorized use may result in legal action.

6. Your Content

You retain full ownership of any documents you upload to PDFMagic. By using the Service, you grant us a temporary, limited license to process your files solely for the purpose of providing the requested service.

We do not claim any ownership of your content. Files are automatically deleted within 1 hour. We do not read, analyze, or use your documents for any purpose other than processing your request.

You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to upload and process the documents you submit.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that results will be accurate. You use the Service at your own risk. Always keep backups of your important documents.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDFMagic shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Loss, corruption, or unauthorized access to your files
  • Errors or inaccuracies in processed documents
  • Any other matter related to the Service

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is greater. Since PDFMagic is free, this effectively means our liability is limited to $100 USD.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration in San Francisco, California, except where prohibited by law.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, displaying a notice on the website.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you disagree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
